BCPS review courses and other prep, compared on what can be checked

No BCPS review course is required, and the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) offers no prep of its own. Below is what could be checked, as of October 27, 2026, about the courses from the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the other options candidates weigh. Where a vendor’s page could not be read, you get the product’s name and nothing more.

2Check any prep product against these before you pay

  • Its description of the exam matches BPS today; check the format, timing and test vendor against the BCPS exam format page.
  • It teaches to the outline effective September 2024: 36% patient care specialty areas, 36% therapeutics and patient management, 28% professional practice. The study guide maps it.
  • It cites a guideline and year for every dose and threshold it teaches.
  • Each answer comes with reasoning for the wrong options, not only the key.
  • It claims no relationship with BPS; BPS asks that organizations claiming one be reported to it (BPS pharmacotherapy page).
  • If you need recertification credit, the assessed continuing pharmacy education (CPE) comes from ACCP or ASHP programs; the rules by cycle are on BCPS recertification.

3Where this site and our app fit

4Before you buy a course

Are the BPS sample items worth doing?

Once, early. BPS publishes them so candidates can see how items are built and says they are not meant as a self-assessment, so treat them as a format preview. For practice with feedback on every option, use the BCPS practice test.

Why does this page give no prices?

Because they could not be confirmed. The ACCP and ASHP store pages did not load for our checks, and figures repeated elsewhere may be out of date. Check the vendor’s page on the day you buy.

Do the ACCP and ASHP courses count toward recertification?

Both carry recertification in their names, and both organizations are among the providers BPS names for recertification CPE. Whether a given purchase awards assessed CPE for BCPS is stated by the provider; how many units each cycle needs is on the recertification page.
